If you’re at all active on social media platforms, you’ve probably come across mentions of the Clean 9 detox diet over the past few months. As with any ‘new’ diet, it’s always a good idea to stay skeptical when approaching such a program. Some of them are based on sound science, but many often promise quick results with no effort – only for the dieter to subsequently discover they’ve been duped into investing in a fad. That’s where the usefulness of reviews comes in: other people try out products and programs so you don’t have to, they make educated guesses and come out at the other end with a verdict. Today’s post is a review of the Clean 9 9 day cleanse program from Forever Living. The Forever Aloe Vera Gel-based program focuses on promoting aloe vera weight loss, in combination with several other homeopathic remedies. So, does it work, or is it just a bunch of hoopla designed to take your hard earned money?
The Clean 9 claim
The Forever Clean 9 detox promises dieters that the can lose up to 12lbs over the course of 9 days. That’s quite a lot of weight – and you’re supposed to shed all of it off with nothing else but the aid of natural substances and supplements, such as aloe (the main ‘ingredient’ of this diet), bee pollen, and garcinia.
How does the Clean 9 diet work?
The Clean 9 diet is devised by a company called Forever Living. Clean 9 is but the first part in a two-step process, which promises to do away with yoyo dieting and its slew of malignant effects, such as alternating between weight loss and gain, plus potential exposure to eating disorders (anorexia, binge eating, bulimia, disordered eating, and the like). In the first stage, the dieter can lose up to 12 pounds over the course of seven days alone – all of it being completely safe and not involving any triggering feelings of hunger. Then comes the second step of the program, which lasts for another twelve days. The creators of this program explain that it is entirely safe, medically and scientifically tested, as well as guaranteed by an MD – Dr. Peter Atherton.
How to keep the Clean 9 diet
Since the main product involved in this program is the Forever Aloe supplement, this essentially makes the diet a 9-day aloe vera cleanse. To this end, the program works as follows:
- Days 1 & 2: These are called the detox days, since the dieter is only allowed to consume dietary supplements, plus one shake that acts as a meal replacement.
- Days 3-9: The dieter consumes several supplements, which include:
- Aloe vera gel, 3 liters;
- Meal replacement protein shakes – 2 per day;
- Bee pollen pills;
- Garcinia dietary supplement pills.
During these seven days, the dieter is supposed to closely follow a carefully constructed aloe vera and supplement plan, while only eating a single actual meal per day. That meal is typically not supposed to exceed 600kcal. Since the supplements involved have been widely researched, it’s easy for the non-expert to understand why and how they work to aid weight loss.
What do the Clean 9 supplements do?
While some in the allopathic community have tried to dispute the link between aloe vera supplements and losing weight, it’s important to note that this natural ingredient contains over 200 active substances. It’s reasonable to assume that they can help boost the speed of one’s metabolism – and the best part is that they all come from completely natural sources. It’s basically as if you were drinking the stuff directly from the leaves of Aloe Vera plants in their natural environment.
Bee pollen is a substance collected from the legs of bees upon their return to the hive. While it’s not the bees that product the pollen, but plants and flowers, the substance is still completely natural (though, yes, it can be combined with bee saliva and other byproducts from these intrepid insects). Make note that some people are naturally allergic to some bee products, including pollen. Since these allergies can have anaphylactic shock as an outcome, it’s important to note that people with allergies need to steer clear of them. Otherwise, pollen can not only help with weight loss, but also to enhance one’s immunity.
Garcinia, or Garcinia Cambogia by its scientific name, has also been extensively tested, both on human, as well as on animal subjects. Though more independent, peer-reviewed studies are always welcome, it’s safe to say that combining garcinia-based supplements with calorie restricting diets will help speed up your pound-shedding journey.
The Verdict on the Clean 9 Diet
This completely natural diet will make it easy for you to get back on track toward obtaining the body you’ve been dreaming of. It’s not a ‘quick fix’ type of solution, since it’s medically approved and healthy, but it does make getting started easier, given the fact that it helps you see quick results.
